Incoming freshmen: Freshmen are admitted to the university and into the Department of Allied Health Sciences as Allied Health Sciences (AHS) majors provided they meet the university admission requirements. Students are advised in the department. During the spring of the sophomore year or after completion of a minimum of 45 credits, student many remain an Allied Health Sciences major, may further define this major by petition into a concentration within the Allied Health Sciences major or apply to a Professional Program (admission to a concentration within the AHS major or to a professional program is not automatic; refer to major/program admission information).

Transfer Students: Students are admitted to the university and into the Department of Allied Health Sciences as Allied Health Sciences (AHS) majors provided they meet the university transfer admission requirements. Students are advised in the department. Following completion of a minimum of 45 credits or if a student admits with a minimum of 45 credits, the student many remain an Allied Health Sciences major, may define this major by petition into a concentration within the Allied Health Sciences major or apply to a Professional Program (admission to a concentration within the AHS major or to a professional program is not automatic; refer to major/program admission information).

Continuing Students: Students petition into the Department of Allied Health Sciences as Allied Health Sciences (AHS) majors. Students are advised in the department. Following completion of a minimum of 45 credits, the student many remain an Allied Health Sciences major, may define this major by petition into a concentration within the Allied Health Sciences major or apply to a Professional Program (admission to a concentration within the AHS major or to a professional program is not automatic; refer to major/program admission information).

Petition to the Allied Health Sciences major is open to current university students provided they meet the following criteria:

Students must submit:

  • Petition form: Petitions forms are accepted on a rolling basis. There are two petition forms available. The form used differs depending on whether you are a current student in the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (CANR) or whether you are a current student in another School or College within the University.
  • Unofficial transcript
  • A one paragraph personal statement regarding career option and why this major is a fit
