Congratulations to Aaron Plotke-IDEA Travel Award recipient
Aaron Plotke ’17 (CAHNR, CLAS) – for his work on:
Effect of physical activity calorie equivalent labeling on selection of high-calorie foods in a college dining hall
Aaron's Grant allowed him to travel to Obesity Week 2015 – November 2-6, 2015 – Los Angeles, CA

The UConn IDEA Grant program awards funding to support self - designed projects including artistic endeavors, community service initiatives, entrepreneurial ventures, research projects, and other original, creative and innovative projects. Undergraduates in all majors at all campuses can apply. Applications are accepted from individuals and from small groups who plan to work collaboratively on a project.

Congratulations to Seo - Yeon Lee ‘18 (Allied Health Sciences, CAHNR ).  
Seo-Yeon was one of the recipients of the prestigious UConn IDEA grants; only 19 were awarded this Fall 2015.  
Seo-Yeon Lee’s Honors Advisor is Dr. Tania Huedo-Medina.

Congratulations to Abigail Moore’16 (Allied Health Sciences, CAHNR) continues her IDEA grant which was awarded in the Spring 2015 semester.
 Abigail is investigating how the system for professional development at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center can be improved with the goal of strengthening the Clinical Ladder system, increasing nurse satisfaction, and ultimately improving patient outcomes.
 Abigail’s Honors Advisor is Maryann Morris.  

Department of Allied Health Sciences student Abby Colburn '16 was recently featured on the CAHNR Naturally@UConn blog. She also did research in the Korey Stringer Institute in the Department of Kinesiology. Congratulations Abby!

Faculty In the News

Dr. Michael Copenhaver
recieved national recognition from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) for one of his adapted interventions.  The adaptation makes his Community-Friendly Health Recovery Program (CHRP) more likely to reach its intended audience of high risk HIV-negative drug users in community-based treatment programs. Congratulations!

 
Congratulations to Allied Health Sciences Assistant Clinical Professor Bruce Blanchard who has been chosen by the UCONN Connects Program
as an outstanding Staff Facilitator. Nominated by one of his students for his encouragement, commitment and dedication to students in this program,
Dr. Blanchard received an award of recognition from the UCONN Connects Program on January 21, 2016.
